Andrew Cline from the
Union Leader relays:
In the NH 2nd District, Republican Rep. Charlie Bass is in trouble.
Evans-Novak calls the district "leans Democrat," Congressional Quarterly
rates it "leans Republican," and the latest poll, which samples 3% more
Republicans than Democrats, has Democratic challenger Paul Hodes up 50%
to 47%. The RNCC is spending $365,000 for ads, the DNCC $315,000. It
looks like a down-to-the-wire tossup. Though Kerry won the district in
2004 with 52 percent, Bass beat Hodes that year by 20 points. Hodes is a
better campaigner this time around, there is great dissatisfaction in
the district with Iraq and the GOP Congress, and Bass appears to have
turned off some of his base in his attempt to win over independents by
talking incessantly about how often he opposes the Republican leadership
in Washington.
